how do i convert digital surveillance video?
I work for a fuel company that has been having a reoccurring string of thefts over the past few months. i am going through the video footage and have found the perp if you will. the police need a evidence of this mans theft before they will even sit at our station and arrest him (he visits almost daily) so im trying to use movie maker to edit clips together with stills. the surveillance videos are on backup viewer 1.4.0 and are saved .ps format. i have the option to convert to .avi but movie maker needs codec's. i downloaded the codec's and received a blank video. what do i do? is there some better way to convert this video and achieve my goal?

What is your bit rate? (is it running out of disc space?)
Are you sure it rebooted and not went to screen saver mode ? (which depending on your setup can bring you back to the Login screen).
What is the time stamp of the file?
How robust is the application that records? What is the max. file it supports? Perhaps when it reaches x GB of storage it stops.
