How do you connect a CCTV camera with 3 RCA connections (video, audio, power) to a bnc DVR?
You can use a RCA to BNC convertor. Once you have this plug, you will only use the RCA video line to the BNC. I know that Radio Shack used to have these plugs, but not sure if they still do. If not, try your local security shop or surveillance company as they would have these plugs.

Do CCTV camera's pick up audio as well as video?
Depends on the system. CCTV stand for Closed Circuit Television. All that means is that the t.v. signal is not broadcast over the air. Sort of like a video camera set up to display on a t.v., but over a longer distance.
In California, I believe it is illegal to record sound/conversation without the consent of all parties involved. So if you're in CA then CCTV will probably not have sound.

How do I power a cctv camera?
I want to get some cameras for my house but the set up has lost me. The a/v cables for them have power as well as the audio and video. How does this hook up to a vcr, or do I need something else?
I am assuming the cameras you are getting come with a power supply and cabling?
You mount the each of the cameras in the location you choose and run the cabling back to the recording point. For power, each camera can either be powered separately or you can buy a specialized power supply to power all of the cameras.
Audio and video gets a bit tricky if you are just using a consumer type vcr since that type only has one video and audio input. You could buy one vcr per camera but that gets expensive if you have a lot of cameras.
You can buy a multiplexer but I think that will only do video and not audio.

You can buy multi-channel dvr's. Some are video only while others are video and audio

If I were you I would also consider pre-packaged systems.

After the camera is powered on, touch the pole once with finger(s) to turn on the baby lights; touch again to turn off it; hold the pole and the lights will blink.
CCTV CAMERA TV SCREEN ERRORS?
I recently purchased a simple wired cctv surveillance camera. Installing it was no problem. I needed 30 meters of wire from my front door to my tv set. In between i had to add some wire so i therefore soldered some lengths. The camera works well. Even the sound.
BUT i am constantly getting these two fuzzy lines on the screen which keep on going up and down the screen. They are very annoying. Is it maybe due to the fact that the wire is 30 meters long? The camera does actually work well because when i directly connected it to my tv it was 100% clear!. Or maybe is it the type of wire i used for it? (i used phone wire as it has 4 wires. I used 2 for video and 2 for audio).
I am really frustrated. Can anyone try and help and guide me please?
Regardless of which cable type you are using, you are experiencing a phenomenon called 'Hum' or 'Picture Rolling . Read this for a great explanation http://svconline.com/mag/avinstall_losing_hum_bar/
For CCTV, this resolved by using a Hum Bar or Ground Loop Isolator as they are sometimes called. See the example below which will surely do the trick. Then type the word in a search engine to find your local supplier. http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Video-Ground-Loop-Isolator-p/sp-g01.htm

What is the best outdoor CCTV security camera for the money?
Primarily I need the best camera for night vision. I hear color cameras are good but not for nighttime. I don't live in a well lit area so B&W cameras might be the only option. I live in a hot climate (Florida) so the camera needs to be weatherproof and durable to withstand the humid sun and rain. Do any cameras come with audio as well? Anybody out there been there and done that? What can I expect to spend without giving an arm and a leg? I've gone to websites with 20 and 30 cameras to choose from. But I'm looking for specific model numbers to research Any personal consumer experience out there?? I don't want to waste money in shipping and handling charges and frustration with customer service because some sales guy is trying move slow product HELP!!! :)

Synology's VS60 is an unusual product. It looks like one of the company's single-bay Disk Station NAS devices, but its purpose is much more specific. The VS stands for Visual Station and it works in conjunction with a Disk Station's Surveillance Station and allows you to display the live feeds from your IP cameras on a monitor or TV.
It's aimed at businesses using IP cameras for security rather than traditional CCTV cameras, although this limits its audience somewhat. For consumers wanting this capability for home security, the VS60 is rather expensive at over £200, considering it doesn't replace the Disk Station's surveillance capabilities - it merely allows you to view the live feeds.
In order to use a VS60, then, you'll need a Disk Station NAS that supports firmware version of 2.2-0914 or later. This provides the necessary Enable Visual Station tickbox to configure which camera feeds are available to the VS60. You'll also need to connect the VS60 to your network via its 10/100 Ethernet port.
